I launched from the southwest side of New Pass Bridge around 7:15am. I headed north around the dog beach and toward the back side of Lover's Key. The outgoing tide was ripping. Thank you Mirage drive. I didn't see much activity at all for the first hour and a half. Then about 45 minutes into the incoming tide I anchored at one of my productive spots and picked up a snapper. A few casts later I caught a small redfish. Then about 10 minutes after that I had a big hit and reeled in this nice 28-inch snook. My biggest this year.
All three fish were caught within 45 minutes and after that things went cold.
On the way out I had another big hit but after 10 seconds it was gone. I never saw what it was.
The weather was great and the water was clear. A perfect day for fishing.
