Launched just after 6:00 am from GCK on rising tide. High was at 9:45. Water very dark in the Pass. Jumped one tarpon early on topwater but did not get another solid hit till heading in about 11:00. Saw a predator chase a bait fish and threw a white paddler-z but thought I missed the mark. He picked it up and ran about 35 yards towards the mangroves. Strong fish! I was peddling in reverse trying to keep him out of the mangroves and as I touched my drag to tighten it when he was about 3 yards from the mangroves, my leader gave. Badly frayed for about 6 - 7 inches. Not sure what I could have done differently. It hurts when you lose the only decent bight of the day! Well, that's fishing.

When a snook can get its gills on a leader or get to the mangroves nothing will stop it!

Saw you and your partner out there. I was at the oyster bar. Released a slot red, and a 24 inch bluefish. Got bit off a couple of times by what I presumed to be blues. All on white paddler.
