I launched about 8 AM just at the start of the outgoing tide. I head east on Broadway Channel. I wanted to start on a shallow grass flat that I had success on. I was hoping I would get there before it got to shallow. I hit a few small mangrove islands along the way and caught a small red and a couple of sheepsheads. I was using live shrimp because I wanted to test the sheepshead bite. By the time I got to the flats the water was pretty shallow. I tried for about 30 minutes and headed for some deeper mangrove edges. I fished for about an hour with only a couple of bites so I headed west to Hickory pass. I caught a nice 18" trout and 2 smaller ones on a popping cork just pass the bridge. I slowly drifted the north side of the channel catching 4 more small reds, 3 more small trout, 4 more sheepsheads, and a ladyfish. All were caught on live shrimp either under a popping cork or on a jig.

It was a great day weather-wise. The water was clear. My only disappointment was I picked up a fairly big piece of cardboard floating on the water, and as was heading back to the launch there was a big area of small bits of styrofoam floating on the water. When I see crap like this it really upsets me.

I know what you mean regarding debris on the water. I always try to return to the launch site with more than I left with.
