Was reading some old posts and thought I might explore Lakes Park which I was not familiar with. Sounded like an ideal area to fish during the winter. Boy, was I surprised to find the nicest park I have seen since moving to Lee County two years ago. Bill, one of the volunteers, drove Suzann and I around in his cart. Beautiful water for kayak/exploring/fishing with things to do for all. Walking trails, butterfly garden, childrens garden and train ride through the park. Even saw a gator. Will be back when Pineland/Matlacha not feasible.

I've been a few times, each time had some big swirls and blow ups on my lures, but no fish to the boat. Been all the way north to the lily pads . Wouldn't mind an outing again soon. Even if you don't catch anything, its a great paddle. More wildlife there than areas of PI sound. Here's a video I took on my last visit.

I understand there was a recent issue with runoff that affected the water quality in the Park. The water did appear to be quite green although not as bad as the way it appears on Google Earth. I understand that they now have some sort of filtration system on the incoming waters. I might suggest waiting until the weather gets a little cooler and the clarity improves some.

Good idea, wasn't aware of the water issue.
