Good afternoon Gents,

Anyone fishing the Cape Canals please be careful. My buddy at work ran into was he said was a 10-13ft gator off of Kismet and Tropicana right by the seawall. Just a heads up. Always wishing everyone safe trips. Have a great day. God bless.

A good reminder about gators in Cape Canals. The biggest one I have seen so far this year was in a lake in the Coral Oaks Golf Course. Mabey 10 feet but hard to tell. I made a few casts for bass then left and let that gator continue its sunbathing. I live on a canal in NW Cape and have seen a few swim by, the largest say 5 feet.

Largemouth bass and bluegills have pretty much got lockjaw for the past several weeks here in NW Cape Coral. I have found a few big Mayans that are fun to catch on a small plug and light spin gear.

No bass caught in NW Cape canals for many weeks.

I finally tried a local pond at sunset yesterday and caught 2 nice bass on green plastic worm. It was a good bite until it got dark.

The bass bite is just starting to pick up in NW Cape canals. Caught three this morning and lost three more that spit the plastic worm out. Best luck was in Gator Slough which I do not fish that often. We have had a warm February so the lily pads are in bloom with yellow flowers.

Also, very unusual for me. Hooked one of the big blue tilapia on a bass worm. They are nesting right now.

I did some scouting around the canals in NW Cape this morning. I finally found quite a number of bass beds and the bite was good away from the beds near lily pads.

The best bite has been in Gator Slough for the last week or more. Did not see any gators near the bass beds or anywhere else in NW Cape recently. But, be alert in the dead end canals that are full of lilies.
