I did some more mods to the trailer and the Tarpon. I added some J hooks so we could get the tandem in between. I also added a trailer jack because the tongue weight was getting a bit much for me to get it on and off the hitch. Here she is loaded up for a Sanibel trip. I had to move the box back a few feet to clear the bikes.

Here's my milk crate mount I made using the built in tracks in the rear of the yak. I used the bottom of another crate for the lid, and then mounted the top of that crate to the yak with aluminum bar. The crate sits in it and is bungeed to it. Works well and didn't budge, even at 80 mph on the interstate. It keeps the crate up off the floor of the tankwell, which keeps the contents dryer. I always have water in there.

Not to be pushy or anything, but I'd love a pic of your hitch with the integrated bike rack part. Been trying to come up with something myself for our camping/kayaking trips.

I used this:

If i had it to do over again, I'd probably use this with a ball mount extender in the lower slot, to move the trailer back a bit, to allow more room for the box to clear the bikes in tight turns:

It would also allow me to connect/disconnect the trailer with the car/trailer in a straight line. I have to have the trailer turned in relation to the car to be able to lift the latch.

My pleasure Jody! That setup worked pretty well overall, well, except for the toasted axle on the tow vehicle. Friggin 8.8 Fords!

Here are a few shots of the crate mount. It's the cut off top part of a donor crate that I cut the bottom from for use as the lid on my main fishing crate.
