We are coming down to Ft. Myers this weekend and will be in town a week or so. I’m looking for some suggestions for where I can rent a decent kayak for the week. I fish from a 13.5 feel free, not sure if I will be able to get anything comparable to that size.

Also, any tips on where to put in/ spots to fish would be greatly appreciated. I live down in southeast Texas and most of my kayak fishing is done in the marsh.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You may want to try Gulf Coast Kayak on Pine Island Road in Matlacha. They have a nice launch giving you direct access to Matlacha Pass. Snook, redfish and trout can usually be found there and the proprietors are really good helpful people.

I suggest checking Gulf Coast as well, depending on where you will be staying, there are numerous launches within short driving distance. He's also a Feel Free dealer, and has some for rent. If you launch out of there first , one of us can give you the lay of the land and what to look for. It shouldn't be that foreign, coming from Texas marshes. This is a great time, tarpon maybe showing up as well. PM us once you talk to Gulf Coast and we should be able to get at least one of us to go out with you.

I agree, Gulf Coast it is, if it isn't too much of a drive for you.

Renting and launching there is obviously easy, but I've seen him load up kayaks for people early, that will be launching elsewhere, so that should be an option. Weather this weekend will be windy, but not much for rain/storms. JohnK fishes that area most , so he's the best one to pick a good tide. I'll be available from Friday on.
