Hey Guys,

I found this forum so thought I'd join and introduce myself. I've been reading through and it looks like there's lots of great info on this site!

I've always wanted to get more into inshore fishing and thought that a kayak would be a great way to do it. I picked one up a few weeks ago off craigslist and have been going out every chance I get. I grew up mostly offshore fishing with my Dad. Getting out on the flats is a nice change of pace.

I'm in the Bradenton/Sarasota area, so have been fishing mostly in Sarasota & Palma Sola bay. I've caught a bunch of trout, a red and a snook out of the yak so far. Still trying to figure out what they like (bait, water temp, tide location etc.) but am having a blast doing it.

I'll throw up some pics of my ride in the show off your ride section later.

Look forward to talking to everyone and sharing ideas on the forum!

Got a used hobbies pa I am in the naples area. I fished lovers key with little action. I then went to Bayview park. I caugh many Skip Jacks some as large as 25 inches. They may be considered trash fish but I had a blast. I also caught 2 specs and some catfish. I will be back for the 5 weeks starting March 1st. I Was thinking should I get a guide or just keep on paddling and searching. Any help is appreciated.

I love fishing topwater plugs on the skinny flats on those calm mornings. Nothing more exciting than seeing a 25 inch red pushing water for 10 feet when it is coming after your plug or trying to keep a 30 inch snook out of the mangroves while he is dragging your yak around!
