I launched at Little Hickory Preserve at 6:45 am. This is a small mangrove cut that starts at Estero Blvd and ends at Little Hickory pass. This is the very first place that I caught fish when I began kayak fishing here in Florida. I avoid it during the season because it is favorite place for kayak and paddleboard tours. I started at the end of low tide and only managed a small redfish in the first couple of hours. When the incoming started and the water started moving I caught a small snook, another small red and a flounder. All were very tight to the mangrove roots. I caught them all on a gulp shrimp. The water was pretty cloudy and red tide fumes could be felt as I got closer to the pass. Nasty stuff. Off the water at 11:45.

Haven't fished that area for a while, but glad you found the bay in fairly good shape.
