I launched around 7:15 from the ramp near Big Hickory Grill. I floated south through Hogue channel. Seeing many dead floating fish really
brought my confidence level down. I hit all my spots along the way not seeing any baitfish activity and no action. I got to the southern end of Estero Bay and things looked better. I caught a couple of catfish around Interpid Channel and started to see so swirls of baitfish and a couple of rolling Tarpon. I finally hooked up to a nice size Jack that was a reel screamer. The water was really starting to flow and I hooked up to a nice snook at one of the mangrove points only to lose it at the boat. I caught a snapper and another catfish before deciding to head back before the storms hit. I caught the Jack and Snook on gulp shrimp and caught all three catfish on a suspending jerk bait. Next time out I think I'll just peddle to the south end so I can spend more time there and skip the dead water.
