Launched about 5:45 heading west toward oyster bar and Black Key. It was still an incoming tide until about 9:30. Lots of bait fish on way out. Got one nice snapper at oyster bar and headed over to the north point of the key. Nothing. The flat to the north of the Key was loaded with manatee but no tarpon. From there I followed my favorite route, along the north wall of Black Key and around to the back channel and the backside of "no name". I was able to get three reds on a skitter walk top water but at 9:30, with the tide change, all action shut down. Could not raise a strike out of the mangroves which is unusual, even with Houdini or motor oil soft plastics. Called it quits about 11:30, happy with the reds I did get. I did not measure any of the reds but I would guesstimate that they were all in the 20 - 22" range.

Water was pea green and flat with little movement, winds less than 5 mph.

Stop catching all the fish near Black Key!:-))
Manatee put up a pretty good fight. I find they hit on gulp more than Zmans.

I understand that Romaine on a red jig head will usually do the trick!

Yes, but it has to be crisp, not wilted.
