I will be staying in Cape Coral during January, February and March. I haven't fished the Pineland or Matlacha Pass area for three years. Are these still good areas or has the red tide messed them up?

I fish the Pineland/Matlacha Pass areas on a regular basis. Both areas are productive although I generally prefer Pineland when the winds cooperate. The last couple of trips to Matlacha Pass were somewhat disappointing as there didn't appear to be a lot of healthy grass and there was much mossy type grass throughout the water column. Water in Pineland has been exceptionally clear. If you hit it right, you will find reds, trout and some snook there.
